Metrus Closes Massive Efficiency-as-a-Service
Project for New Fortune
100 Technology Customer
September 28, 2017
Metrus closed a $14 million LED lighting upgrade deal with a new Fortune 100 technology customer that covers four sites in four different states. Metrus partnered with SmartWatt and Citi on this Efficiency Services Agreement (ESA) project, which is the first phase in a much larger nationwide rollout.
Metrus and Citi will fund 100% of this groundbreaking efficiency-as-a-service project with no capital outlay from the customer. Citi is Metrus’ lending partner on the deal. Financing this project aligns with Citi’s $100 billion Environmental Finance Goal. SmartWatt Energy, Inc., an energy system optimization company, will construct and monitor the ongoing energy savings performance.
The project will reduce total electricity use for lighting at these four customer sites by 65%, thereby eliminating 20,000 tons of annual CO2 emissions. Over the life of the project, this is equivalent to taking 18,600 cars off the road.
